Course Description

“What do I need to know to support my network?” The answer to this question depends on the size and complexity of your network. Fortunately, regardless of the size and complexity of the network, the starting point for learning to support a network is the same. This course is intended to be that starting point. It focuses on providing the skills and knowledge necessary to implement and support a small switched and routed network.

Target Student: 

Students should have basic computer literacy, and basic Windows navigation, Internet usage, and email usage skills.

At Course Completion:

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:

• How networks function, identifying major components, and function of network components.
• Understand issues related to increasing traffic on an Ethernet LAN and identify switched LAN technology solutions to Ethernet networking issues.
• Extending the reach of a LAN and the methods that can be used with a focus on RF wireless access.
• Functions of Wide Area Networks (WANs), the major devices of WANs, and configure PPP encapsulation, static and dynamic routing, PAT and RIP routing.

Certification:

This course is recommended as preparation for exams:

• ICND1 Exam Number 640-822
• CCNA Exam Number 640-802 (This is a composite exam consisting of both ICND1 & ICND2).

Passing the ICND1 (640-822) exam results in the award of the Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician (CCENT) certification.
