In this course, you'll learn about the content management features found in SharePoint Server 2010. After completing this course, you'll have a good understanding of SharePoint 2010 capabilities around sites and site collections, user profiles, search, and information management policies. In addition, you’ll learn how to extend and customize the SharePoint environment via Business Connectivity Services and InfoPath.

In this course, you will learn:

    * Manage site collections and sites, and choose the best site template to accomplish a given task
    * Employ user profiles and the My Sites feature to drive collaboration in an organization
    * Leverage Business Connectivity Services to integrate external, line-of-business data with SharePoint
    * Customize the SharePoint user interface via InfoPath, and use InfoPath form libraries to provide a flexible means to store and retrieve data
    * Customize and tune SharePoint search to drive your users to relevant results
    * Apply the new capabilities of the Managed Metadata Service to insure consistent, useful metadata for objects stored in SharePoint
    * Use the Document Center Site to establish an enterprise-scale document management infrastructure
    * Implement records management policies using In-Place Records Management, the Records Center Site, and eDiscovery and Hold

Prerequisites: The course is designed for IT professionals and developers that wish to learn more about using SharePoint’s document management and collaboration facilities to the fullest. No SharePoint experience is assumed, but some prior exposure is helpful. For the portions of the course that include coding, it is assumed that the audience member is comfortable programming in .NET and using Visual Studio 2010.
